The E 8.9 is the entry level trainer in the NordicTrack Elite Series (E8.9, E11.9, E12.9, E16.9) of front drive elliptical trainers, offered for just $799. It is one of our top-rated best cheap ellipticals. The E 8.9 features a 20 pound flywheel drive system with a 325 pound weight capacity, making this trainer smooth and easy to use. The customizable options also make this trainer very easy for multi-person use. When it comes to the stride, this trainer is capable of adjusting from an 18 to 20 inch stride, which is ideal for most average sized users. The adjustable oversized pedals are designed to tilt and pivot with your weight, and are also cushioned for the best in joint protection. And finally, the adjustable stride features the new adjustable power ramp that allows users to modify their incline from 3 to 20 degrees, which is ideal for challenging lower body workouts and muscle toning.

When it comes to entertainment options, the E 8.9 comes with a 5 inch backlit iFit® display screen that features 26 workout programs to choose from, 22 digital resistance levels, an iPod compatible music port and two 2 inch speakers. In addition, this trainer is iFit® enabled so users can purchase the module and yearly subscription separately to enjoy hundreds of workouts, trails by Google Maps, and other advanced tracking and entertainment options. New on this year’s model (an upgrade from the 8.7 model), is a more advanced console featuring OneTouch™ controls, Digital Quick Incline™, an integrated tablet rack, and a larger cooling fan.

If you want to monitor your heart rate while working out, this trainer comes with CardioGrip ™ heart rate sensors built into the stationary handlebars, and it is set up to also work with the NordicTrack wireless heart rate monitoring system, but it is sold separately. The overall design of the E 8.9 is comfortable and easy to use, and the front drive design gives the feel of a stair climber, desirable to some who like to lean forward a bit more. As for the warranty, NordicTrack offers a lifetime warranty on the frame, two years on parts and one year on labor.
