Detailed Overview

New for 2015, this light commercial grade elliptical/arc trainer is a durable and attractive model ideal for any home or gym floor.

The LK500X is part of the LK Series of light commercial grade fitness elliptical/arc trainers by BH Fitness. This model is one of four elliptical trainers in the series, which are self-generating upper-front drive designed models ranging in price from just around $1,500 to around $4,500. The LK500X retails for $3,399 and is the mid-high-range model in this new series.

Designed with a low step-on height of 7.75 inches, 330 weight max capacity, and a super sturdy and reliable frame, this model is safe and durable. The upper front-drive design features a roller-free design that is quiet and very smooth, mimicking the user’s natural stride and reducing shock and impact on the joints. This design allows for a 20.5 inch stride and a narrow Q-factor (narrow spacing between the pedals), but lacks adjustable options. The oversized, cushioned pedals are easy on the feet and provide additional grips for extra safety.

When it comes to the console, this model is built with a bright red LED alpha-numeric display that features basic workout readouts like calories, heart rate, time, etc. Users can keep track of their heart rate using the contact grip sensors on the stationary handlebars and this model is equipped for wireless heart rate monitoring, though the strap is not included. The LK500X offers 24 built-in workout programs and 21 electronic resistance levels, allowing users to mix up workouts and target various muscle groups. And while this console comes with a water bottle holder and reading rack, it does lack a cooling fan or any audio capabilities at all. However, if you are looking for a more advanced console,

the LK500i is similar to this LK500X model but features the advanced I.Concept console that allows users to connect their favorite devices to the trainer for access to additional programs and music. The LK500i also includes additional workout programs and levels of resistance.

The LK500X comes with a commercial warranty of 2 years on labor, 5 years on parts and lifetime coverage on the frame.

Our Favorite Features

  • Affordable pricing
  • Self-generating (easy to move around and adapt to any floor plan)
  • Moving and stationary handlebars (with dual-grip EKG heart rate monitoring on stationary handlebars)
  • Lifetime warranty on frame
  • Unique, ergonomically-sound design for extra comfort and safety

Our Least Favorite Features

  • Non-adjustable features
  • Lower weight capacity of under 350 pounds (average is 350 pounds or greater for a commercial-grade trainer at this price point)
  • No built-in cooling fan
  • No audio options/speakers
  • Cost of shipping not included

The Bottom Line

BH Fitness is the manufacturer of many well-known commercial machines, so they are known for their durable and reliable fitness equipment. This LK500X model is no different, designed with comfort and safety in mind. But when it comes to flashy features, advanced tracking options or entertainment offerings, this model definitely lacks. The bottom line: it’s a better value than the LK700X that is almost $1,000 more without too many other features, and if you are looking for all of those bells and whistles of the console, consider the LK500Xi model with the I.Concept console.
